Don’t Diet - Eat Hemp Seeds Instead

Don’t Diet - Eat Hemp Seeds Instead!

It’s that time of year again, Resolution time. Just the word makes me tired and feel like a failure. This year, I refuse to set myself up for failure and self-loathing. I refuse to go on a crash diet, kill myself with a crazed workout routine at an expensive gym, or wet my pants while trying to run to the loo after drinking a gazillion glasses of water to detox my system.

Goodbye Resolutions, Hello Mellow!

Mellow is the word for 2016 and I intend to reach maximum mellowness by implementing these four basic, essential tools daily:

1. Eat Mellow Hemp Seeds Everyday: Forget the crash diet and frantic detox by eating a handful of yummy Hemp Seeds a day. Hemp Seeds are the perfect, easily-digestible protein with a 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 essential fatty acids. They contain 9 amino acids, vitamins, minerals and are a great source of fiber. If you have a sudden craving for sweets, eat a handful of Hemp Seeds instead. The Hemp Seeds will fill you up and stop your sugar cravings. I lost weight, lowered my cholesterol and triglyceride levels by merely eating 2 slices of toasted Ezekiel bread slathered with Hemp Seed Butter and drizzled with honey every morning. Drink a glass of water while you eat your Hemp Seed Butter toast.

2. Morning Pages for Maximum Mellowness: Do you have constant worry on your mind? Start each day by clearing your mind and purging anxiety by writing Morning Pages. According to Julia Cameron, creativity expert and author of, The Artist’s Way, “Morning Pages are longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning. There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages –they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes only. Morning Pages provoke, clarify, comfort, cajole, prioritize and synchronize the day at hand. Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on the page…and then do three more pages tomorrow.” Eat some Hemp Seeds and drink a glass of water while writing.

3. Mellow Walking as Meditation: Walking creates intuition. If you walk out with a problem, you walk back with a solution. This kind of walking is done alone. Without an iPhone. Without your dog.(If you have a dog and you go for a walk, you are going for your dog's walk.) When you are walking, you go at a slower pace; you are more aware of your environment. With exercises like running, we tend to sort of zone out. Walking forces us to zone in. Drink water after your walk. Eat some hemp seeds.

4. Make a Mellow Date with Yourself: Once a week, plan a festive, solo expedition to do something that interests, intrigues or enchants you. Take some Hemp Seeds for snacking and drink water while you’re exploring.

When in Doubt, Mellow Out: So much of being healthy, happy, and mellow begins with the doing of things that are healthy, happy and mellow. This means that we must train ourselves to think small rather than large. We become frightened because we have “big decisions” to make. But big decisions can be made gently, a small step at a time. But again, notice that word in there– “step.” Eating Mellow Hemp Seeds every day is a small, easy step. Morning Pages clear the way and lead us a step at a time. Mellow Walking as Meditation gives us a gentle path. Mellow Dates with Ourselves fill the well of our creativity and create a sense of adventure...and who doesn’t need that to feel groovy!
