It is December, which means that it is time to reflect on the New Year’s resolutions of the past year. Yes, yes, there are many excuses for not achieving those lofty ambitions. But they are just that–excuses. For 2015, people have the ability to set reasonable goals that are actually reachable. With hemp seeds, we can make our diets healthier, lose weight and find an easier path to fitness. All we have to do is commit to the crunch.
Changing to a better diet is on many a person’s New Year's Resolution this year. Haul out the junk food and bring in the kale by the wheelbarrow! Increasing fiber intake is shown to make people feel fuller longer, lose weight and generally have a better attitude about life. Yet, too many people think they have to stuff in vegetables by any means necessary to get enough fiber. We want everyone to remember that hemp seeds are also an excellent source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. For the resolutions that involve exercise, people need some serious protein in their lives. Not just silly protein you can get at McDonald’s. When we want to build up our bodies to be stronger and fitter, we need more muscle. And, research shows that the best way to improve your muscle-building capacity is with a diet rich in the essential amino acid leucine. Just a few grams of leucine in a meal increase the body’s ability to grow muscle after a hard round of strength training. Where do you get leucine? From a lot of sources, of course, including from animals. But, cutting back on dairy and meat is part of a lot of people’s new year plans, and for good reason. Instead, we can get almost a gram of leucine from one little tablespoon of hemp seeds.
Some people think that setting a New Year's Resolution is cliché. And yet, the new year is an excellent time to minimize the damage we caused with holiday eating and lack of exercise.
